Tungsten Carbide Wedding Ring

Tungsten wedding bands are the result of a unique process in which tungsten and carbide powder is blended together. This is why such rings are often referred to as Tungsten Carbide rings. Initially, men were particularly in favor of tungsten men’s wedding rings however, women are also choosing such rings for their sleek, stylish look, durability and inexpensive maintenance costs.

Many couples interpret the symbolism of wedding bands as they liken the solid, beautiful brilliance of such rings to their own solid commitment of love to each other. This is because wedding bands are slightly heavier than other metal rings and thereby provide a sense and feel of substance and value. Tungsten wedding rings lay claim to being the most wear-resistant rings available today as tests have proved that such rings are 5 times harder than steel and ten times harder than 18k gold.

To meet the growing demand for wedding bands, several jewelers and retailers now have a wide and exclusive range of wedding bands which also include a selection of tungsten men’s wedding rings and triton wedding bands. However, if you and your loved one have decided to go in for tungsten wedding bands, make sure that you are aware and fully convinced of their quality before making a purchase. This is because there are some retailers who may pass off low quality, imitation wedding bands as originals.

Are Titanium and Tungsten Wedding Rings for Life?

Executive summary about Tungsten Wedding Rings by Scott Murf

When faced with the once-a-life-time decision of choosing a wedding band ring, everyone should do their own research in order to make sure they get the piece that can symbolize the eternality of marriage.

Will they be scratched?

Although titanium wedding bands are very strong and durable, the surface of the rings can actually be scratched. It takes another extremely hard object such as diamond to cut into the metal; however, it does not get damaged during normal daily use. On the other hand, tungsten rings are totally resistant to abrasions. Since tungsten carbide, the most common grade of tungsten alloy offered in the market, is extremely hard, it will NEVER get scratched.

Will they be bent out of shape?

Both titanium and tungsten have extremely high ductile strength. However, under extremely circumstances, titanium rings could bend out of round but a tungsten ring could not. On the other hand, a tungsten ring stands a better chance of remaining intact, because tungsten in general is harder than titanium.

Will the color turn?

Neither of the metals will turn color. Titanium and tungsten alloy are biological inert and do not turn color with normal usage such as being exposed to the sun, in contact with sea water or cosmetic products.
